Stefano Bregni
Prof. Stefano Bregni is with Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He graduated in Electronics Engineering (1990). After nine years in Industry, he joined Politecnico in 1999. He contributed to ETSI and ITU-T Standards in network synchronization. He is the author of 100+ technical papers and of a widely recognized book on network synchronization (J. Wiley, 2002).
He has served as a tireless IEEE volunteer for 25 years. He has been a voting member of the IEEE Conferences Committee (2019-20). In the IEEE Communications Society, he served two terms as Vice-President Conferences (2018-19, 2020-21), two terms as Vice-President MGA (2014-2015, 2016-17), as well as Director Conference Operations (2022-23), Member-at-Large on the Board of Governors (2010-2013), Director Education (2008-2011), TAOS TC Chair (2008-2009), Distinguished Lecturer (2003-2009). He is Global Communications Newsletter Editor-in-Chief.
He is leading or has led several top ComSoc conferences, including serving as: General Vice-Chair of GLOBECOM 2022, Technical Program Co-Chair or Vice-Chair of GLOBECOM 2023, ICC 2016, GLOBECOM 2012 and GLOBECOM 2009, Symposium Co-Chair in nine other ICC/GLOBECOMs, Chair of the IEEE LATINCOM Steering Committee.
In recognition of his outstanding service, he received the IEEE ComSoc/KICS Exemplary Global Service Award (2019), the IEEE ComSoc Hal Sobol Award for Exemplary Service to Meetings & Conferences (2014), and the IEEE ComSoc Transmission, Access and Optical Systems Technical Committee Outstanding Service Award (2014).
