My Commitment

I have served as a tireless volunteer in IEEE ComSoc for 25 years. I have a solid record of accomplishments in conferences, member services, and technical activities. I facilitated participation from all countries, also considering economical barriers. I created and still lead the ComSoc Student Competition. I redesigned the Global Communications Newsletter. As Vice President MGA, I strengthened the Women in Communications Engineering Committee, also launching the Child Care Program for parents attending conferences. I strongly opposed any increase of ComSoc membership fees.

With my hard work and dedication, I have earned my renowned reputation demonstrating uncompromised ethical integrity, solid competence, strategic vision, creativity, problem solving skills, attention to globalization and inclusion in all Regions.

IEEE is facing serious challenges, including: membership contraction, how to serve the different needs of its global diverse membership, open access publications, and the changing landscape of conferences, including online/hybrid events. If elected, I will be honored to serve IEEE with my extensive experience acquired in ComSoc. My diverse background and leadership skills will allow me to understand IEEE challenges, bring new concrete ideas, and lead their implementation. My priorities are:

  • defend the technical excellence of IEEE conferences and publications
  • ensure equal opportunities and reinforce the diversity of IEEE leadership
  • facilitate the engagement of students, women, and young professionals in IEEE activities.

As I have demonstrated in ComSoc over 25 years of service, I commit to be actively engaged also as Division III Director and move forward in harmony with other volunteers and staff for a stronger and healthier IEEE.
